[origin: EP1803563A2] An applicator unit (1) coats a printing sheet with an adhesive for image purpose. A coating module transfers an image-forming layer from a transfer film (5) onto the printing sheet. A transfer film feeding device feeds the transfer film to the coating module. A film guiding device (14) controls the advance of the transfer film such that the transport of the transfer film is stopped when the image-forming layer is not transferred onto the printing sheet in a transfer nip of a coating unit (2). An independent claim is included for method for coating printing sheet.
