[origin: WO2006048055A1] The invention relates to a vane for a rotary pump, comprising a pump housing and rotor, mounted to rotate therein, whereby the vane is mounted to be displaceable in the rotor, touches an inner circumferential surface of the pump housing and defines a vacuum chamber and a pressure chamber. The vane has a constant length, the inner circumferential surface is made from metal and the vane has vane tips, the hardness of which is greater than the hardness of the inner circumferential surface.
