Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1806186A1] The rapid changing of a roll of a rolling cage (2) using a displacement device (10) comprises: (A) placing a replacement roll (8,9) on the charge axis (C,C'); (B) hooking the displacement device to the replacement roll and to the roll (8,9) to be replaced; (C) hooking the roll to be replaced to the replacement roll; (D) operating the displacement device with a push-pull action to put the replacement roll into the cage and remove the roll to be replaced discharging it from the cage; (E) unhooking the rolls from the displacement device. An independent claim is also included for a rolling mill installation using this method of rapid roll changing.
