A machine tool for machining elongated elements (2) in wood or similar materials comprises retaining means (12) arranged for clamping and moving said elongated elements (2) along a first longitudinal direction (X) and is provided with a plurality of clamps (16) each comprising clamping elements (17, 18) arranged for clamping said elongated elements therebetween (2), said clamping elements (17, 18), in a plan view, substantially occupy the same overall dimensions.
