Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006048504A1] A lifeboat (1), which is intended to be used in vessels (12) or other constructions used at sea and which comprises a hull part (2) and a cover part (3) fixedly attached thereto and being movable with respect to the hull part (2) to a first position for the storage of the lifeboat (1) and to a second position for the utilisation of the lifeboat (1). The height of the lifeboat (1), when the cover part (3) is in said first position, is substantially smaller than the height thereof, when the cover part (3) is in said second position. It is provided with support members (6), which are supported by the hull part (2) and the cover part (3) so as to keep the cover part (3) in said second position and which can be inserted at least partially inside the hull part (2) for the storage position of the cover part (3). It is further provided with power cylinders (7), e.g. gas springs, which are arranged to act on turnable lifting arm mechanisms (16, 17), which are supported by the hull part (2) and the cover part (3) for moving the cover part (3).
