Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006050789A1] The invention relates to a device and a method for controlling the lift of a gas exchange valve in an internal combustion engine. The device comprises a controlled drive device with an operating element, for operating the gas exchange valve, two energy storage means acting in opposing directions on the gas exchange valve and a regulation device for controlling the drive device. The regulation device controls the drive device according to a stored set path, by means of which the gas exchange valve is displaced from a first end position into a second end position and vice versa. According to the invention, the set path is embodied such as to reflect the ideal attenuation property of the energy store/drive element/energy store system of the device without account being taken of further environmental influences.
