Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1814087A1] The device has drive assemblies (20, 22) placed in planes parallel to a displacement direction (D) of a mail item e.g. cover, via a franking machine. The assemblies are mounted side by side in a transversal and vertically movable manner independent of each other, so that an upper surface of the mail item remains supported against a fixed guide plate. The assemblies form respective belts (200, 220) mounted on a pulley assembly and form respective lower reference surfaces for the mail item. The assemblies are spaced from each other by a space corresponding to a width of the mail item.
