The coupler has a printed circuit board (10) carrying a contact for sockets and connecting contacts (12) of the contact set with one another. Two partial shells are made from an electrically insulating material. An electrically conducting housing has the form of a U-profile with a longitudinal axis running in a plugging direction of the sockets. The shells with the board are inserted into the housing as a component, and a connection endplate (60) covers the component. Contact guides (62) are engaged into the sockets for contacting a shielding of a plug inserted into the sockets.

Eine Kupplung mit zwei einander entgegengesetzt gerichteten Buchsen für Stecker zweier miteinander zu verbindender geschirmter Datenkabel ist insbesondere als RJ 45-Kupplung ausgebildet. Eine Leiterplatte (10) trägt jeweils einen Kontaktsatz für jede der Buchsen und verbindet die korrespondierenden Kontakte (12) miteinander. Zwei Teilschalen (14) aus einem elektrisch isolierenden Werkstoff umgreifen und halten die Leiterplatte (10). Ein elektrisch leitendes Gehäuse (40) weist im wesentlichen die Form eines U-Profils mit in Steckrichtung der Buchsen verlaufende Längsachse auf. Die Teilschalen (14) mit der von ihnen umschlossenen Leiterplatte (10) sind als Baugruppe in das Gehäuse (40) einsetzbar und in dem Gehäuse (40) fixierbar. Ein elektrisch leitendes Abschlussblech (60) deckt die Baugruppe an der offenen Profilseite des Gehäuses (40) ab und greift mit angeformten Kontaktzungen (62) in die Buchsen ein zur Kontaktierung der Schirmung der in diese Buchsen eingesteckten Stecker.
