[origin: EP1816243A1] The lapper has perforated belts (21) for guiding card web through upper and laying carriages (18,3) into discharge nip formed at laying carriage. A belt entrance with an inclined entrance zone is formed at upper carriage, extending from lower end of entrance zone towards laying carriage. The belt entrance is formed in parallel by the next belt and is guided back through laying carriage as cover belt (11). The guided belt section is passed through a tensioning carriage (10) which moves with respect to output conveyor belt (1) but not passed through upper carriage.
