[origin: DE102006005022B3] The vehicle (1) has a receiving device (2) communicating with a control device (3) for receiving a signal transmitted by an emergency vehicle (7), where the signal contains information indicating the emergency vehicle and its driving direction. The control device produces and outputs characteristics information of the emergency vehicle for a driver depending on the received information. The signal information contains information about desired driving lane of the emergency vehicle, and the control device concerns the driving lane information for providing the characteristics information. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a motor vehicle.
