Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1825773A1] The procedure consists of milling one or more grooves (6a, 6b) in an outer supporting surface such as a watch face (8) of white gold typically 1 mm thick and drilling holes to receive the stones from the back of the supporting surface, leaving a rim that retains the edge of each stone. The stones are then fixed in place by beads of material cut and pressed from the inner walls of the holes against the stones' rear faces. The axes of the holes are aligned with the centres of the grooves, which can have a constant or variable width.
