Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1826220A2] Use is claimed as a catalyst for metathesis of nitrile rubbers of a ruthenium or osmium compound (I). Use is claimed as a catalyst for metathesis of nitrile rubbers of a ruthenium or osmium compound of formula (I). M : Ru or Os; Y : O, S, NR 1> or PR 1>; X 1>, X 2>same or different ligands; R 1>(cyclo)alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkynyloxy, aryloxy, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylamino, alkyl- or arylthio or alkylsulfonyl or -sulfinyl, all of which are optionally substituted by alkyl, halogen, alkoxy or (hetero)aryl; R 2>-R 5>H or an (in)organic residue; R 6>H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aryl; and L : a ligand. An independent claim is also included for production of hydrogenated nitrile rubber by a metathesis reaction of nitrile rubber in presence of the catalyst, followed by hydrogenation, especially in situ.
