[origin: WO2006072320A1] The invention relates to an energy absorbing device (1) for the interior of a motor vehicle, comprising two elements (2, 3) that are disposed so as to be movable relative to each other, at least one actuator which is positioned between said elements, and at least one receiving device on the elements (2, 3) for fastening the actuator. The aim of the invention is to create an energy absorbing device (1) that is easy to produce and requires little space. Said aim is achieved by embodying the receiving device as a recess (4) which is introduced into the elements (2, 3) and at least partially encloses the actuator.
