According to said method, the switching edges in the magnetic sensor array (1) caused by a moved transmitter element (1) are evaluated by the fact that a signal is output when a threshold value is exceeded or is not reached. The output signal (110) of the magnetic sensor array is analyzed within a predefined time slot of the signal range, and an optimal switching point (E, F) regarding the slope (111) and/or the position in the zero crossing zone of the oscillation of the output signal (110) is determined.
