Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006069956A1] The invention relates to a method and to a device for the secure operation of a switching device comprising at least two main contacts (1) which can be switched on and off and which comprise contact pieces and a displaceable contact bridge, and at least one control magnet (2) which comprises a displaceable anchor (12). The anchor (12) acts upon the contact bridge when it is switched on and off such that the corresponding main contact (1) is opened or closed. The inventive method comprises the following steps: a) a path alteration (?s) on a position of the displaceable contact bridge (2) of the at least one main contact (1) and/or one component (3), which is actively connected in a mechanical manner to the contact bridge (2), is recognised when the main contact is switched on (1), and b) the additional operation of the switching device is interrupted if the recognised path (?s) exceeds a predetermined value.
