[origin: WO2006063761A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for accepting banknotes. When accepting banknotes by means of a device that accepts banknotes, the banknotes are inserted into a feeding apparatus, are singulated using a singulating mechanism, and are conveyed using a transport system in order to verify the individual banknotes with the aid of a sensor unit and store the banknotes in a storage container or return the same if they cannot be verified. Returned banknotes can be inserted into the feeding apparatus again. Finally, instructions for accepting and storing the returned banknotes are entered, whereupon said banknotes are accepted and are stored in the at least one storage container.
