[origin: EP1832402A1] A component part (2) of wood or similar is shaped longitudinally by inserting the component part (2) between a bottom jaw (19) and a top jaw (24) of a gripping device (17,18); the jaws (19,24) of the gripping device (17,18) defining between them a channel (28), which has no stop members for arresting the component part (2) in an insertion direction (11) of the component part (2) between the jaws (19,24), so that the component part (2) can be fed through the channel (28) from one end to the other.
