Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1832671A2] A two-stage process protects lightweight automotive and/or aerospace magnesium components from corrosion and mechanical wear. In a first stage the magnesium is coated with pure aluminum or suitable alloy by cold gas sputtering. In the second stage the aluminum coating is oxidized by an anode process.
