Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1832725A2] The muffler (1) has spaces (3, 4) which are separated via a partition (5) in an airtight manner, where an airborne sound transported in an exhaust system (2) enters the space (3) to cause an unpleasant noise burden. An electronic sound absorber (7) e.g. loudspeaker, having a chassis (8) and a diaphragm (9) is inserted into a wall opening (6) of the partition. The sound absorber situated in the space (4) acts upon the space (3) with anti-sound through the wall opening during operation. The chassis of the sound absorber and the partition are made in one piece.
