[origin: EP1833237A2] In an image processing device adapted to restore sub-information from composite image information produced by a composite image producing device which embeds invisible sub-information into visible main image information to produce the composite image information, the frequency components of the sub-information extracted for each of its color components are smoothed (113a, 113b, 113c), and the optimum one is selected (114) from among the results of the smoothing process performed for each color component of the sub-information.
