[origin: WO2006069620A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for starting an internal combustion engine (3) in an optimised manner by means of a starter which is connected to a capacitor store (13). Said capacitor store (13) is connected to an on-board supply system (10) of a vehicle (1) by means of a DC/DC converter (9), and the on-board supply system (10) comprises an energy accumulator for supplying electrical energy with a nominal voltage. The starter consumes a starting energy for starting the internal combustion engine (3), which is dependent on a temperature of the internal combustion engine (3). The temperature of the internal combustion engine (3) is measured by means of at least one temperature sensor (23), and the capacitor store (13) is charged to a nominal voltage by a battery (16) by means of another DC/DC-converter (17) that connects the battery (16) parallel to the capacitor store (13) parallel to a switch (18). The nominal voltage is determined by means of a control device (28) in such a way that the electrical energy stored in the capacitor store (13) charged to the nominal voltage is higher than the starting energy determined on the basis of the measured temperature.
