[origin: WO2006072388A1] The invention relates to a cooking hob (11) which comprises a cooking hob plate (12) made of glass-ceramics and in which several individual heating units (14) are provided that have a regular hexagonal shape and adjoin each other. Elongate illumination segments (19) are disposed on the outer contours (15) of said heating units (14). When the inventive cooking hob (11) is operated with several adjacent heating units (14) as a connected heating area (23), the entire outer contour (15) of said heating area or of the individual heating units (14) is illuminated, thus indicating to the user which heating units (14) are activated.
