[origin: EP1834531A1] The method involves conveying filter tow strips (2) along a conveying path, and applying a liquid additive e.g. triacetin, on the strips by using an application device (47). The stretching of the strips is terminated during or after the initiation of a production stop of the application of the additive based on the condition of a filter storage. The strips are bundled at a point in an inner side of an application track (7) during or after initiation of the stop.
