Die Erfindung betrifft ein Schneidwerkzeug, insbesondere Messer, mit einem Klingenkörper (2) und einem daran angeordneten Griffstück (6), wobei der Klingenkörper (2) ein Informationsschild (9) in Form einer Gravur trägt. Um ein verbessertes Schneidwerkzeug bereitzustellen, wird mit der Erfindung vorgeschlagen, daß der Kropf (4) des Klingenkörpers (2) das Informationsschild oberseitig trägt, wobei das in Form einer Gravur ausgebildete Informationsschild (9) eine solche Gravurprofilierung (Gravurlayout) aufweist, daß es als Rutschsicherung dient.
