[origin: EP1835067A1] The device has an iron (10) comprising a soleplate (60) with a vapor production assembly (12) having a pump (76) and a water supply tank (40) from which water is pumped and brought along a flexible pipe (78) to a vaporization chamber (66). The chamber has injection points for injecting the water pumped from the tank for vaporizing it. A programmable control unit (30) supplies water to the iron when a temperature of the soleplate is sufficient for evaporation of water. The control unit supplies vapor to the iron when the production assembly reaches a predetermined operating temperature.
