The device (1) determines an actual wear of a spark plug (2) during continuous operation of an internal-combustion engine (3) based on operating movements of a load (L), number of revolutions (N) and sparking energy of the engine, where the actual wear is added to a total wear condition of the plug. A material removal of a spark plug electrode (6) per spark is determined. An independent claim is also included for a method for determination of wear of a spark plug of an internal combustion engine.

Es wird eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Verschleiß an der Zündkerze (2) Brennkraftmaschine vorgesehen, bei dem Verschleißermittlungsmittel (1) vorgesehen sind. Die Verschleißermittlungsmittel (1) bestimmen anhand von Betriebsbedingungen der Brennkraftmaschine einen aktuellen Verschleiß (203) der Brennkraftmaschine und summieren diesen zu einem Gesamtverschleißzustand (204) der Zündkerze (2) auf.
