[origin: DE102005008987B3] The dishwasher has at least one washing zone (112) where water is sprayed onto the items to be washed in a washing chamber. The washing zone has at least one washing water reservoir tank, at least one filter housing containing a fine filter and a water return device. The fine filter divides the inside of the filter housing into a dirty water chamber and a clean water chamber. Water is sprayed onto the dirty water chamber using a supply of water from the washing chamber. The filter has a filter wall arranged such that in normal operation the washing water flows through the filter wall from the dirty water chamber into the clean water chamber. The clean water chamber is connected to the water reservoir via a drainage device. The return device has a water return path connected to the clean water chamber and having a return pump and a drain line connected to the dirty water chamber. In the return mode, the return device reverses the flow of water between the clean and dirty water chambers through the filter wall. Independent claims also cover a method of use of the machine.
