Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006056454A1] The invention relates to a device for presorting separated thin postal items to sorting final position areas of a postal item sorting machine according to the read distributing information and to the assigned sorting final position area. To this end, the device comprises at least two entries (E1, E2, E3) for the streams of postal items and at least two exits (A1, A2, A3) each leading to a sorting final position area. All connecting paths with intersections (KZ1-KW1 to KZ6-KW6) are provided in a multiple manner between each respective entry (E1, E2, E3) and each respective exit (A1, A2, A3). The postal items are distributed via the corresponding switches (W11 to W33) to the multiple connecting paths from an entry (E1 to E3) to an output (A1 to A3) in such a manner that, at the intersections (KZ1-KW1 to KZ6-KW6), gaps develop that are required for postal items in the intersecting path and in the junctions (Z11 to Z33).
