Said device comprises an application device (2) in whose container (3) the liquid medium is received, in addition to a fixing device (7) which is used to fix the liquid medium which is applied to the material web (M) by means of the application device (2). According to the invention, the fixing device (7) comprises at least one ultrasonic unit (8; 8a, 8b) which impinges the liquid medium which is applied to the material web (M) with ultrasonic oscillations. The ultrasonic unit (8; 8a, 8b) comprises a work surface (9) which can be displaced by an advancing device counter to a work surface of an opposite counter bearing (10).
