[origin: WO2006073312A2] A pipe gripping device (8, 13) for gripping and transport of pipe lengths (7). The device comprises at least one gripper (16) having two opposite gripping jaws (16a, 16b). The gripping jaws (16a, 16b) have at least two expansions (17, 18), each of which is adapted to grip a pipe length (7), thus allowing the gripper (16) to grip at least two pipe lengths at the same time. In addition, a description is given of an intermediate storage facility (12) for intermediate storage of pipe lengths (7), which is arranged as a mezzanine storage between the drilling position on a drilling deck (2) and a main pipe rack (6).
