Abstract (en)
There is provided a counterweight-less elevator apparatus capable of minimizing spaces in the top and pit portions of an elevator shaft and thereby reducing the size of the elevator shaft. For this purpose, in a counterweight-less elevator apparatus comprising a car going up and down in an elevator shaft; a driving sheave and a returning sheave provided in a top portion and a pit portion of the shaft, respectively; and a main rope which is caused to pass around the driving sheave and the returning sheave and one end portion of which is provided on the car from the upside of the car and the other end portion of which is provided on the car from the downside of the car, both end portions of the main rope are provided on one side surface of the car, and the one end portion is provided in a lower portion on one side surface of the car from the upside or the other end portion is provided in an upper portion on one side surface of the car from the downside.
