[origin: DE102005003967A1] An expansion valve (16) for a cooling system, especially using carbon dioxide, comprises a housing with supply inlet (34) and outlet (37) fluidly coupled by an expansion pipe (46), or that has a fluid connection to inlet or outlet. A by-pass valve (36) is in parallel with the expansion pipe and the pipe has an opening cross-section (Af) of between 0.06 and 0.5 mm2>.
