Abstract (en)

A method and a device for upsetting capable of non-uniformly increasing the diameter of the unintended part of a material in the circumferential direction. The method comprises a step of preparing a guide (20) having an insertion hole (21) in which the unintended part (2) of the material (1) is inserted and held in a buckling prevented state. In the device, a projected part (22) for suppressing an increase in diameter projecting in the axial direction of the guide (20) is integrally formed at a part of the tip part (20a) of the guide (20). The method also comprises a step of holdingly inserting the intended part (2) of the material (1) fixed to a fixed die (10) into the insertion hole (21) of the guide (20) and, while axially pressurizing the intended part (2) of the material (1) with a punch (30) by moving the punch (30), moving the guide (20) in an opposite direction to the moving direction of the punch (30) to increase the diameter of the intended part (2) of the material (1) exposed between the tip part (20a) of the guide (20) and the fixed die (10) in the state of suppressing an increase in the diameter of the contact part of the intended part (2) with the projected piece part (22).
