Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006081870A1] The invention relates to a track compacting machine (1) comprising two internal unit chassis (12) arranged near the center of machine with respect to a transversal direction (19) extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the machine and two internal unit chassis (13). Said chassis are mounted in such a way that they are slidable independently of each other on lower transversal guides (18) in the transversal direction (19). In addition, top transversal guides (21) are fixed to a machine frame (2) and are positioned above the lower transversal guides (18). The lower transversal guides (18) are mounted on sliding blocks (20), which are slidingly attached to the top transversal guides (21), and are slidable with respect to said blocks in the transversal direction (19). Each external unit chassis (13) is connected to a displacement drive (23) for independently transversally moving along the lower transversal guides (18). In such a manner, the internal unit chassis (13) are locatable at a relatively important distance from the machine center (11) for compacting under switch sections (27).
