[origin: WO2006120071A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a refrigerator comprising two movably connected housing parts, a frame (1) and a door (2) which jointly delimit a heat-insulated interior (3), as well as a seal (4) that is fastened to a first of the housing parts (2) and airtightly contacts the other, second housing part (1) in the closed position of both housing parts. The inventive method encompasses a step (a) in which the airtight contact between the seal (4) and the second housing part (1) is prevented for a specific period of time along a section of the seal while the sealing contact between the seal (4) and the second housing part (1) is subsequently restored along said section of the seal in a step (b). The invention also relates to a refrigerator for carrying out said method.
