[origin: WO2006072236A1] According to the invention, film images extracted from a film recording beam path (S1) of a moving image camera (1) may be processed, whereby an image sensor (20) is arranged in the auxiliary beam path (S4) of the moving image camera (1) which is periodically interrupted as a function of the image capture frequency of the moving image camera (1). The film images are converted into digital auxiliary signals (AS), encoded in a camera module (2) with an image frequency matching the image recording frequency of the moving image camera (1), together with additional recording, control and/or status signals for the moving image camera as metadata (MD) and transmitted to a processing unit (3). The processing unit (3) decodes the data and signals, processes the digital auxiliary signals (AS) to change the film images, analyses the auxiliary images for focus adjustment, over- or under-exposure of the film images or elimination of the focussing screen structure, equalises the film images distorted by means of an anamorphotic camera lens (10), processes and stores the digital auxiliary signal (AS) and metadata (MD) in digital form and transmits the same as digital output data and digital control signals to a network LAN and/or as analogue or digital video signals (FBAS, Y/C, DV, BD) to a display or recording device.
