For the transmission path (CP1) currently made available by the respectively used communication network (GSM, DFN, AFN, IN), at least one configuration network unit (NEG1) selects the set of audio parameters (APS1) which results in a greater speech transmission quality for the currently provided transmission path (CP1) than the sets of audio parameters (APS2, APS3) stored for the other transmission paths (CP2, CP3) among a plurality of sets of audio parameters (APS1, APS2, APS3) stored for different transmission paths (CP1, CP2, CP3), and at least one of the speech signal processing units (TEC, PW, FI) and/or speech codec units (NCD1, NCD2, NCD3) of the transmitting and/or receiving communication terminal (MT, VOIPT) and/or at least one of the network elements (NEC1) passed in the respectively used communication network (GSM, DFN, AFN, IN) is/are configured therewith in order to transmit the speech signals (SPS1) via the current transmission path (CP1).
