Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1847498A1] The method for the laying of long wound material (20), such as wire, insulated or uninsulated leads, glass fibers, and suchlike, entails recording the position of the flanges (13,14) of the winding reel (11) by means of a sensing unit (37), and from the measured values of the sensing unit deriving control signals for the movement of the deflection roller. The speed of feed of the wound material is also recorded by a speed measurement unit and this value is also used for deriving the control signals for movement of the deflection roller. An independent claim is included for a device for implementing the method in which the laying unit (32) has a sensing unit which records at least the position of the reel flanges and also the coil diameter of the already laid material.
