[origin: EP1848019A1] The method involves sealing a vacuum switching chamber close to a contact piece according to a chill casting manufacturing process, while a substance is melted in a crucible and is cast into a die (1). Bars (4) are attached in the die, where the die lies horizontally during casting under a vacuum atmosphere in a kiln and resulting composite material includes a material combination of copper and chromium. The die is separated and is opened for disconnecting the contact piece. An independent claim is also included for a contact piece for a vacuum switching chamber.
