[origin: WO2006087193A1] The invention relates to a method for distributing gas using a device in columns in which particles flow from the top to the bottom in a packed bed while gas and liquid are directed upward in a countercurrent. Said device is composed of bottoms that are disposed on top of each other. The gas is distributed into the cross section of the column when passing the bottoms. The bottoms are embodied with constrictions and a joint gas chamber that is formed from distribution ribs and a peripheral annular space. The gas pressure in the bottom can be compensated by means of defined gaps in the distribution ribs in order to take in and evenly discharge the gas again into the cross section of the column in case there are differences in pressure between the constrictions and the bottom space as a result of differently flowing amounts of gas.
