[origin: EP1849560A2] A pipe union press tool is a two-part (3) circular clamp (1) whose two halves pivot (5) at a mid-point and engage at the opposite side of the circle under clamp forces (A). The press tool is of sandwich construction consisting of two or more layers. Also claimed is a commensurate manufacturing process in which the sandwich layers are joined at their interface by welding, bonding or riveting.
