Abstract (en)
The plug includes central- and body- electrodes (3, 4), the latter being made of wire. The cross sectional outline of the wire is a straight line on the side facing the central electrode, and a curved shape on the opposite side of the wire. The rounded edges of the curve intersect the straight line; i.e. the cross section is generally D-shaped. It is semicircular or is alternatively a circular sector. It may be elliptical or an elliptical sector. For a plug with an M12 thread, the wire is approximately 2.5 mm wide, 1.3 mm high with a rounded edge radius of 0.6 mm.

Zündkerze mit einem Körper 1, einem im Körper angeordneten Isolator 2, einer im Isolator 2 angeordneten Mittelelektrode 3 und einer am Körper 1 angebrachten und aus einem Metalldraht ausgebildeten Körperelektrode 4. Die Querschnittsform des Metalldrahtes, aus dem die Körperelektrode 4 gebildet ist, besteht aus einer Geraden, auf der der Mittelelektrode 3 zugewandten Seite und einer Kurvenform mit sich an die Gerade anschließenden Abrundungen auf der der Mittelelektrode 3 abgewandten Seite.
