A traffic transmission unit (50) transmits a traffic channel over the carrier, where the synchronization and traffic channels are transmitted to destination of another mobile station such that the latter station synchronizes on the former station and reads the traffic channel. An independent claim is also included for a method for establishing a call in direct mode implemented by a mobile station.
