Abstract (en)
A modular sole assembly system for footwear and components thereof. The outsole is exchangeable to allow customization of an item of footwear with respect to traction, cushioning, support, fit, performance and/or aesthetic functions and features. A sold unit (26) engages into a sole unit receiver (12) and is secured therein through engageable elements. The manipulation of the engageable elements can be allowed by a hand tool in the form of a key that can be provided in at kit with the article of footwear.
