[origin: WO2006090958A1] There is provided a door opening and closing apparatus of a refrigerator. The door opening and closing apparatus includes a plurality of doors for opening and closing a refrigerator main body, gasket assemblies provided in the parts where the plurality of doors face each other to be attached to the counterpart doors to seal up a gap between the doors, hinge mechanisms for connecting the doors to the refrigerator main body so that the doors are horizontally moved with respect to the refrigerator main body to some extent, actuators for horizontally moving the doors so that the gasket assemblies are separated from the counterpart doors when the doors are opened, and actuator driving mechanisms for driving the actuators. Therefore, it is possible to completely separate the two gaskets from each other so that it is possible to easily open and close the doors and to prevent the gaskets from contacting each other and to thus prevent the gaskets from being abraded or damaged.
