[origin: EP1857172A1] A static mixer comprises a housing (1) including an inlet opening having a first cross-section in a plane normal to a main direction of flow in the inlet opening and an outlet opening having a second cross-section in a plane normal to the main direction of flow in the outlet opening and larger than the first cross-section; and a mixing element (12) having flow-dividing layers (3, 4) and defining a cross-sectional development increasing substantially continuously from the first cross-section to the second cross-section.
