Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2006094712A2] Disclosed is a machine tool for machining a workpiece with the aid of at least one tool by having the workpiece and the tool perform controlled positioning movements relative to each other. Said machine tool comprises a machine frame, a support head that can be moved relative to the machine frame by means of a moving unit, and at least one receiving device which is located on the support head and by means of which a workpiece or a tool can be placed on the support head such that at least some of the positioning movements can be performed using the moving unit. In order to improve said machine tool in such a way that numerous complex machining operations can be carried out in an optimal fashion, the support head is mounted on a support arm so as to be pivotable about a first swiveling axis while said support arm is mounted so as to be pivotable relative to a support base about a second swiveling axis that is located parallel to and at a distance from the first swiveling axis. Furthermore, the support base can be moved relative to the machine frame by means of at least one controlled axis of movement.
