[origin: WO2006092610A2] Methods of monitoring melanoma progression in a subject comprise, in a test sample, determining expression levels of novel marker genes. These genes are selected from, inter alia, TSPY1, CYBA and MT2A. Methods of diagnosing melanoma also include determining the methylation status of markers whose methylation status has now been shown to be linked to progression of melanoma. Microarrays, screening methods, primers and methods of treatment of melanoma are also described based around the novel marker genes.
