Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2006092115A1] The invention relates to a weft thread supplying device for weaving machines, particularly gripper weaving machines, comprising a supply spool (4) for the weft thread (6), a thread regulating wheel (2) for compensating for thread use during weft insertion, during which the incoming weft thread (6) is fed to a storage (21) and the weft thread stored therein is withdrawn from the storage (21) by means of the weft inserting elements (12). The aim of the invention is to prevent additional uncontrollable elongations in the weft thread and/or to use distinctly larger supply spools (4) for the weft threads. To this end, the inventive device is equipped with a supply spool (4) whose axis (40) is aligned transversal to the withdrawing direction of the weft thread (6) and is driven by means of a servomotor (41). At least one additional weft thread intermediate storage (3; 7; 26), which is monitored with regard to the storage filling by means of sensors (35, 36; 75; 25), is placed in the thread path between the point at which the weft thread (6) exits the supply spool (4) and the point at which the weft thread exits the storage (21) of the thread regulating wheel (2) for the weft insertion. The sensors (35, 36; 75; 25) are connected to a controller (5, 5', 5", 5" ) or regulator for the servomotor (41) via control lines.
