Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1860270A2] The glass unit has glass panes (2, 3) provided with elastoplastic spacer bands (1), where the spacer bands include a silicone mantel (1.1) and a core of a drying agent. The mantel has an inner surface turned towards an inner region between the panes and sides surfaces determined for an adhesion unit at pane surfaces, and an outer surface is coated with a moisture barrier layer. The mantel is made of silicone material such that the drying agent of the core is resin bonded. The silicone mantel and the drying agent core are co-extruded. The barrier layer has a foil (1.3) made of stainless steel. An independent claim is also included for a method for applying spacer bands on plates of an insulating glass unit.
